Bank Erosion at the Otofuke River

While I was in China last week, 2 big typhoon attacked Hokkaido and there were flooding in some rivers.

I visited the Otofuke River, one of a branch of the Tokachi River located in the east part of Hokkaido.

At first we visited the district office. They showed us the aerial photo at the site. The river is "meandering".

We visited the site. Red lines shows the location of the levee top used to be. About 100m of the levee had gone.

Concrete bricks had been installed emergently. Concrete is reliable in this situation. Some body said, "From  Concrete to Human", but is human better than concrete even in this situation?

People looks serious here !!!
